Micah’s Story
Directed by Harry Iloghalu
United Kingdom, 2025
Drama
What this film tells
Fourteen months on the streets of London. Micah's battle against homelessness traces a life shaped by repressed trauma and destructive habits.
Why it matters
'Micah’s Story' came from wanting to explore how quickly a life can unravel when unresolved trauma is left to build over time. Harry was interested in showing that homelessness isn’t just a sudden event, but often the result of a long chain of experiences, decisions, and circumstances that eventually become too heavy to carry.

With 'Micah's Story', Harry aims to shed light on the realities of homelessness and the long-term impact of childhood adversity. He is drawn to stories that are raw, human, and often overlooked, using film as a way to give voice to experiences that are usually left unseen or misunderstood.
Harry’s approach to filmmaking is simple and instinct-led, prioritising honesty in performance and realism in tone over spectacle. He is continuing to develop new projects that explore similar social themes through intimate, character-focused storytelling.

Directory Statement
'Micah’s Story' came from wanting to explore how quickly a life can unravel when unresolved trauma is left to build over time. I was interested in showing that homelessness isn’t just a sudden event, but often the result of a long chain of experiences, decisions, and circumstances that eventually become too heavy to carry.
Micah’s character represents someone who has spent most of his life surviving rather than healing. The film looks at how childhood neglect, abuse, and lack of support can resurface years later in destructive ways like addiction and gambling, eventually leading to complete instability.
My aim wasn’t to dramatise homelessness, but to approach it with honesty and empathy - showing it as a deeply human experience rather than a statistic. At its core, the film is about how the past never fully stays in the past, and how difficult it can be to break cycles without support.
